Weekender in the New Forest

Last weekend Paul & I decided to make the most of a couple of days off and try something I have avoided for a fairly long time now - camping! With busy work schedules the two of us are having to wait until August to have a proper holiday, but sometimes it's just nice to have a little staycation away from home. Now I know this is all pretty un-glam, but we had such a great time and felt so revitalised afterwards that I couldn't not recommend it on here and share some pics with you lot. So we packed our bags and headed to the New Forest. First stop: New Forest Aqua Park.

I didn't take any photos when there because I didn't fancy carrying my camera around but I couldn't not mention this. The Witbit Aqua Park was the most fun I've had in ages! Essentially a water park come bouncy castle come assault course, I haven't seen so many grown adults get so silly all in one place (not without the help of alcohol, anyway). When done you can grab a beer and watch the wakeboarding from the bank of the lake or the clubhouse. As a tip - I wore a full wetsuit because I get chilly quickly, but this had further benefits as the grip on the knees meant I whizzed around the course faster! Image source

Having dried off and feeling well and truly knackered after our hour long session on the Witbit, we drove around in search of a campsite - I wouldn't recommend this as I think we were really lucky to find anywhere at such late notice. Thankfully it didn't take too long and we set up camp at the Long Meadow Campsite. We drove in past fields of deer and baby horses which was an absolute delight!

Having popped up the tent and checked out the facilities which all looked brand spanking new, I settled into my comfies, grabbed a bottle of wine and chilled on an actual mattress to read a book whilst Paul cooked fajitas! This kind of camping I didn't mind at all...

The following morning we were up bright and early to explore. The best thing about our campsite was the gate at the end which lead to the most gorgeous, typically new forest walk - picturesque fields, streams and forest all on our 'doorstep'. We really lucked out with the weather aswell!

As I mentioned earlier, the approach to the campsite had enormous fields of deer and horses. I couldn't believe how up close we were watching them frolic in the sun!

So a bit of a random post from me today, but I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you would be interested to see more lifestyle/weekendy posts on here, because I really enjoy writing them.
