Travel: The Old Port & Pink Fizz Sunset, France

Back at ya with a new travel post this week. Please do pardon the blog hiatus of late - having felt quite uninspired I took a step back for a while. I always think it's better to come back with fresh eyes than to plough on creating content after content when my heart isn't in it.

At the end of August we packed the car and headed to Brittany, North France to celebrate my 22nd birthday, make the most of the last summer rays and eat an incredible quantity of bread.

Day one we awoke to one of those perfect end-of-summer glorious golden mornings, with the most perfect view of the canal. First on the agenda: fresh pastries and filter coffee in the garden before heading out to explore.

As it was my birthday and up to me what we did I chose the tres mature option of heading to a kids fun park - queue running around from bouncy castle to water slide and an ice cream the size of my face (the following pic doesn't do it justice). In all the madness we chose to leave the camera at home hence lack of images from this part of the day. In fairness this was probably for the best.

After a long hot day enjoying all that Cobac Park had to offer we went in search of a nice cool glass of rose. The old port in Lanvallay is one of the most picturesque and typically French spots to stop for a drink. Best enjoyed in the early evening, it's a favourite of mine that we have been visiting for years and is the right amount of busy for good atmosphere but never heaving - even in August.

Pale old me opted for an easy, comfy combo of shorts and Birks. Nothing fancy but great for twirling about the old stone streets.

The viaduct that connects to the main town of Dinan is so impressive in person. Also note my dream house on the left, look at those windows! *heart eyes*

As the shadows grew slightly longer we headed back to the house to catch the last of the sunlight on the canal and toast to being twenty twoooo-oo-oooo with a bottle of pink fizz

Cheers!
